Focusing on IT Procurement, Contract Negotiation and Risk Management – Key Legal and Commercial Issues and Current Best Practices in the IT sector
For too long, major IT projects have suffered from the stigma of “over budget” and “over time” (or worse). That’s a bad sign and even worse when IT systems and value-added services have become a critical driver for companies to:
- Achieve and maintain competitive advantages in their industry
- Win customers and new business
- Continue to make year-on-year cost savings
- Increase productivity
- Comply with regulatory requirements
- Train and retain key staff, and much more!
Yet rhetoric still reins! We continue to talk of “win-win” IT projects, of establishing strategic “partnerships” between suppliers / service providers and customers, but too often this rhetoric is not delivered in the form of a successful project.
This Masterclass has been developed to meet the increasing demand from the IT industry for a thorough analysis of how strategic IT projects can be better managed and implemented at each of the critical stages, from concept through to fulfilment. It offers delegates an excellent opportunity to learn and discuss the best practices that have been developed and refined in the context of planning, negotiating and managing strategic IT procurement and implementation projects. How IT is applied within the organisation will have an immense impact on whether it will attain its vision, mission or strategic goals. |

DRILLING & COMPLETION TECHNOLOGY OF HTHP DEEP WELLS |
|
|
15-17 SEPT 2008 Register Now
The main objective of the course is to examine and understand the impact of highpressures and high temperatures (HPHT) on the drilling and completion technology of deep wells. A few applications that require a knowledge of the maximum values of bottom-hole temperatures and hydrostatic pressure include drilling mud program design, cementing of casing, evaluation of fluid losses while drilling, bit performance, stability of well's wall, logging tool design, log interpretation, and thermal stresses in drill pipes and casing.
By using field cases it is shown that for hot deep wells the bottom-hole hydrostatic pressures predicted with constant surface densities to be in error by hundreds of PSI. Methods of determining the density of drilling muds/brines and hydrostatic/differential pressure are presented.
This course will demonstrate how to combine the use of computer models, approximate analytical solutions, and empirical (based on field data) relationships for determination of static formation temperature, shut-in temperature, downhole circulating temperature, mud density, and hydrostatic pressure. |

DISASTER RECOVERY & BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING |

9-10 & 12-13 JUN 2008 Register Now
|
| |

|
Since the events of Y2K and September 11, there has been an increasing level of risk awareness - whether related to terror, pandemic, power outage, reputation, financial, security, IT or other risks. The need for organisations to have proper Business Continuity (BC) planning and Disaster Recovery (DR) management processes in place is ever increasing, in order for them to continue their business in the event of a disruption, and maintain customer service levels, staff safety and job security.
Historically, IT has been the area of focus in terms of Disaster Recovery. However, a broader, whole-of-business approach is now becoming mandatory and regularly audited by government authorities, for example in the finance/insurance industry. But also in other industries and government, we see more and more awareness that the business - not IT - should be the key driver when optimising services, procedures and systems for Disaster Recovery
Course Programme includes:
- Setting clear objectives for Business Continuity in your organisation
- Considering any audit/compliance requirements that your organisation/industry may be subject to
- Determining your organisation’s critical business processes, activities, resources and dependencies
- Assessing the consequences of the crisis scenarios for your organisation in dollar terms as well as operationally
- Creating an organisational structure/framework for DR/BC processes and documenting clear roles and responsibilities
